Gastronomincal encounter

I had my gastroscopy and colonscopy done at a specialist center, not a hospital. It was quite strange as I always thought such procedure should be done in a hospital. Anyway, it's fully paid by the government health scheme - all my tax deduction is finally showing some benefit.

Despite my punctuality the administration made me wait almost an hour. The wait made me realize I will never make a good Muslim. Can't survive the Ramadan month for sure. Speaking of which today is the first day of the fasting month. How are you all holding up?

Back to topic. Once it's my turn, they led me to a corner with a reclining chair- not even a bed. Fortunately the section's cordoned off by curtains. It looked like a boutique's changing room.

I was asked to change into the standard surgery gown with the open back, strangely enough they let me keep my T shirt on. Then they led me to the examination table and made me lie down fetal position. This is not my first time going under anesthetic but this is the first time my right hand was used instead of my left. Apparently Anesthetist-san is a left hander. She can't find a good blood vessel on my right hand. We actually had a discussion/argument on the state of my veins. I don't know why I even dare to argue with the person that holds the needle. Anyway after some argument and tap tap tap, the IV's inserted and I am off to lala land.

When I woke up, I was back on the recliner. There's biscuit and some warm water. Apparently I ordered it. I have no recollection at all. I also had my iphone out and I was listening to music. No idea how that happen. SERIOUSLY...

I had my biscuit and the nurse came over and asked my condition. I take it the next patient is waiting for the recliner so I said ok, got up and walked straight into the wall. The nurse was alarmed, pull me down and ask me to rest some more. After a few minutes, nurse-san came over and asked the same question. I said ok, got up and walked into another wall. They asked me to sit down again. After this they left me alone to sleep off the anesthesia. I heard the nurse muttering about some people take longer to wear off. Obviously I am one of those.

When I am lucid enough, they called Cousin Bro to come take me home. They told him, I asked for fries. In fact I was muttering about fries when the anesthetist woke me up. I had no recollection. When I was about to leave, I asked when will I know the results. They said the doctor's already talked to me. I HAD NO RECOLLECTION EITHER. Nurse-san asked doctor to come and sit with me again. Apparently the report was already with me in my bag. Amazing in a scary way!!

They even took a picture of my tummy. Although the above look like it was next to my belly button, this is actually the base of my stomach. the hole is the gateway to my small intestines. My diagnosis - moderate gastritis which means the stomach lining's inflamed. Underlying cause? The body produces too strong acid that burn the stomach. The treatment? Nexium to reduce output of acid.

Sigh~ my body always got its priorities wrong. Why can't it produce more hair on my head instead of more acid?
